Artist Biography

My name is Samaya Rose Lyons, and I’m a visual artist and illustrator based in Coral Springs, FL. I work across digital and traditional media to create detailed, dramatic, and colorful images that focus on characters, mood, and storytelling. My practice includes illustration, painting, 3-D modeling, mixed media, and digital art, with a particular interest in animation production, character design, and storyboarding.

I have explored a wide range of tools and processes, from sketching and traditional painting to digital workflows in Procreate, Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. I also work in Maya Autodesk and Blender, as well as clay and ceramics, integrating 3D thinking and tactile making into the way that I design forms and spaces. Each medium teaches me something different about shape, light, color, and texture, and I like bringing those lessons back into my character and story work.

My work often centers on expressive characters, bold color, and dramatic lighting. I’m drawn to images that feel cinematic and moments that suggest a larger story before and after the frame. Whether I’m designing characters, exploring key illustrations, or sketching storyboard sequences, I’m always thinking about personality, gesture, and how visual choices guide the viewer through a narrative.

On the technical side, I’m comfortable moving between 2D and 3D, using digital painting, illustration, and modeling tools to support a production-minded workflow. I enjoy experimenting with mixed media and photography to develop reference, atmosphere, and ideas that inform my designs and compositions.

I’m currently seeking opportunities in animation production, character design, and storyboarding, as well as collaborative projects that value strong characters, vivid worlds, and emotionally resonant visuals.
